While at risk of stating the obvious on this page; an important
concern when commissioning a photographer, is to ask the
question: Am I confident this photographer can deal with the
realities of working in a foreign or remote environment?
A photographer who is too reliant on hotels or works only with
a large crew of assistants, can limit their access to the best
locations and therefore never get to shoot the best pictures.
A large crew can also make the cost of a shoot prohibitive.
Landscape photography by its description means having a
passion for being out in diverse and foreign environments,
that is the attraction. The photographer has to feel comfortable
with working and being in the outdoors. This passion, is the
unique aspect for employing a landscape photographer.
David Osborn is by no means a mountaineer nor super fit, but
his lifelong passion for the outdoors, over more than 30 years
runs parallel to his passion for photography, post production
and craftsmanship. Landscape work is where the two meet.
David Osborn is independently minded, self-sufficient and
extremely practical. He has a very good understanding of the
basic universal requirements for a person to survive outdoors
and knows how to apply these to any environment.
Landscape photography is about a complete experience, not
just photographic. To travel, to experience somewhere new, to
be outdoors in all weathers and to overcome the challenge, is
to feel alive and to create a beautiful photograph at the end of
the journey, is truly the best job in the world.
